Our team is made up of dedicated players, coaches, and staff who work tirelessly to achieve our goals both on and off the field. We are proud to represent Mayfair High School and the Bellflower/Lakewood communities, and we strive to be positive role models for all those around us.
HEAD COACH
DEREK BEDELL
Coach Bedell is starting his 10th season as the head football coach at Mayfair High School. He began his coaching tenure at Mayfair in 2015. In his past nine seasons, he has led the Monsoons to an overall record of 70 wins and 33 losses for a .697 winning percentage. During his tenure, the Monsoons have competed in the CIF-SS playoffs every season, and they captured the CIF Division 7 Title last year. In addition, the Monsoons moved on to win the regional championship before falling to Marin Catholic in the California State Title Game.

Before Mayfair, Coach Bedell spent time as an assistant coach at La Mirada, Bellflower, and Arcadia High Schools. Along with coaching on the high school level, Coach Bedell has 14 years of collegiate coaching experience. he spent several years coaching community college football at Citrus College and Glendale College. While at Glendale College, he was a member of the staff that led the Vaqueros to a Western States Conference Championship as well as 2 Junior College Bowl appearances. Derek also spent three seasons on the NCAA Division III level at the University of La Verne.

Derek resides in Long Beach with his wife Victoria and their three children Derek Jr., Mia, and Jack.
